Maurice Hennessy, driven by a quest for innovation and a demanding philosophy of the subtle art of blending eaux-de-vie, conceived Hennessy XO in 1870. This Cognac, composed of one hundred long-aged eaux-de-vie, naturally took the name X.O, which means "Extra Old".
