The recipe was created by the monk Marco D'Aviano, who participated in the containment of the Islamic advance in Europe. When the Islamic army attempted to invade Vienna in 1683, they lost badly and had to flee, leaving many goods and products behind. It is believed that it was after this that the friars first came into contact with coffee. The name "cappuccino" originated as a reference to the hoods of the Franciscan friars' habits, called "cappa," which are the same color as the drink. The original recipe uses espresso coffee, milk, and steamed milk. Here in Brazil, we traditionally include chocolate, cinnamon, and powdered milk! Making it even tastier!
