The recipe was created by the monk Marco D'Aviano, who participated in the containment of the Islamic advance in Europe. When the Islamic army tried to invade Vienna in 1683, they lost badly and had to flee, leaving many goods and products in the city. It is believed that it was after this that the friars came into contact with coffee. The name “cappuccino” came about as a reference to the hoods on the Franciscan friars' habits, called “cappa”, which have the same color as the drink. The original recipe uses espresso coffee, milk and steamed milk. Here in Brazil, we have the tradition of including chocolate, cinnamon and powdered milk! Making it even tastier!
