Legend has it that the three daughters of a farmer hired to develop the Quinta do Casalinho estate gave their names to this wine. They were Maria Aurora, Maria Isabel, and Maria Eduarda. The latter worked at Caves Casalinho from its inception, and because there was a good understanding between the farmer and the landowner, the name was given in homage to his Three Marias.
