The story goes that the three daughters of a farmer hired to clear the Quinta do Casalinho estate gave this wine its name. They were Maria Aurora, Maria Isabel and Maria Eduarda. The latter had worked at Caves Casalinho since its founding and, as there was a good understanding between the farmer and the landowner, the name was given in honour of her Three Marias.
