Spianata is a typical cured meat of the Lazio region that dates back since the Roman times. Born as a humble product, it now represents the rural gastronomic art, still appreciable today.
Spianata is well-known for its flat-shape and is made from lean pork meat derived from the thigh, chopped with the point of a knife and mixed with lard cubes and seasoning. It has a distinctive orange colour and it is delicately spicy and savoury.
