The brand was founded in 1896 in Perth, Scotland. Its creator was Matthew Gloag, who named his whiskey in honor of the most popular Scottish wild bird, i.e. the red partridge "Red Grouse". In 1905, the brand becomes "Famous" - Matthews whiskey became so popular that it began to be called "The Famous Grouse". The Famous Grouse Smoky BLACK is a smoky edition of the famous The Famous Grouse, which is a blend of several peated malts - including whiskey from the Glenturret distillery. Smell: Quite smoky. Hard peat note, delicate sweetness, touch of dry wood. Taste: Tobacco smoke, caramel, spice. Finish: Long, slightly peaty.
