Baklava is a dessert spread throughout the Middle East and Balkan countries, but it is particularly popular in Turkish cuisine. It is prepared by layering thin sheets of phyllo dough and placing various nuts such as walnuts, pistachios, or hazelnuts between the layers. Then, the layers of dough are stacked on top of each other, and butter or vegetable oil is drizzled between them. The nuts placed between the layers add flavor to the dough. Finally, the baklava is cut into slices and baked. After baking, syrup is poured over the baklava to complete the dessert. Baklava, with its syrupy and layered structure, is a traditional Turkish dessert commonly enjoyed on special occasions, celebrations, and holidays.
